Most people that want to tackle some boat building are afraid that they either don't know how or they don't have enough time or that it costs a lot of money etc... But in this article I'm going to show you that it's not really as hard as you think.

Why build a boat out of plywood?

Because plywood as fragile at is may seem it can be reinforced and it doesn't cost nearly as much as wood does. Another benefit of using plywood is that it doesn't take a lot of time to shape it for what you need...wood on the other hand can take you a pretty long amount of time to shape it into what you need and you really need to know your stuff around it in order to not mess it up.

A simple plywood boat can take you anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of hours depending on your skill level and the complexity of the boat.

For example you can build a PD racer type of sailboat in about 10 hours to 1 day tops, because it's basically a curved box with a sail on top of it. It is capable of holding 2 adults in it at an average sail speed of 3 mph.

You can build one just from 2 sheets of plywood some sturdy glue and latex house paint. You can literally have a complete boat for under $100 and you can build in under a day, tell me that is not awesome?

You might think that its ugly or that its too small, but it is enough to get you on the water. This type of boat is the easiest type of plywood boat plans out there.
